2.04.44pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 30th Apr 2007

Local MP, Julia Goldsworthy, has marked the beginning of the bowls season by opening 2 bowling greens in one day!

First stop, was Holmans Sports Club, where Ms Goldsworthy tested her bowling skills and picked up some tips from the club's more experienced players.

Next, Ms Goldsworthy opened the green at Camborne Bowling Club, where she one again bowled the first wood to mark the beginning of the new season.

Commenting, Julia Goldsworthy MP said:

"Let's hope that the great weather we had on Saturday, bodes well for the rest of the bowling season.

"The greens are in a fantastic consideration and this is a credit to all those who have worked so hard to preserve them throughout the winter.

"Bowling is a great way of staying active and meeting new people and there is clearly a real spirit of community at both clubs. I wish them both the best of luck this season."
