Axe the Tax

Axe the Tax campaigning

Council tax is now the most unpopular tax in Britain today - because it's the most unfair tax. Worse still, council tax, as part of a system of local government finance, was described by the Audit Commission as "fundamentally flawed".

Pension Credit Scandal

Up to 5000 people in the Falmouth and Camborne area, and up to 20,000 in Cornwall alone are missing out on money to which they are entitled to receive from the Government. Could you or someone you know be one of them?

The Pension Credit - which guarantees a minimum income for pensioners is not reaching half the people it should. This is because to claim it, people must fill in long and demeaning forms. The Government knew that people would be put off by this - so incorporated this fact into the budgeting of the scheme!

"It's unacceptable that pensioners are being clobbered with Council Tax increases, but are still being put off from getting extra benefits that should be theirs by right. Liberal Democrats believe the best solution is to scrap the council tax altogether, and provide a decent state pension which everyone can claim without fear of being stigmatised," said Julia Goldsworthy.

If you think you, or someone you know may be entitled to the Pension Credit, and you would like more information about claiming, please contact us, and we will send you more information.

No Tuition Fees, No Top Up Fees

Campaigning against tuition fees

Only the Liberal Democrats have proposals to abolish student and top up fees, without cutting Higher Education. If you support this policy, join our campaign to call on the Combined University in Cornwall at Falmouth to rule out top-ups.
